Hi Joe!
I see you live in Epping. I used to live in Theydon Bois, on the road to Epping (Piercing Hill), right next to Epping Forest. How's things in that part of the world these days?

Hows the boys?

The boys are all fine, thanks. Mwape (officially, I suppose, he's no longer a boy!) is in Australia, in the last year of his degree course. Charles has recently finished 6th form and is hoping to go to uni. He's had an offer from Liverpool but hasn't finally decided where he wants to go yet. Philip will be doing his GCSEs next year.

Re: Hi Rebecca!
Wow Steve, thats barely 5 minutes from my house. I have friends who live on Piercing Hill.
Epping's getting much busier these days, not as nice as it was. Had some trouble recently with people coming from London on the train to the clubs/bars - a few stabbings... not good! How long ago was it you lived in Theydon?

Wow! I forget they are so much older than me! I had top marks in french in the whole year and 97% in a GCSE welsh exam! Even though i am too young for these!

Sorry to hear about the stabbings - that doesn't sound nice at all!JoeC wrote:Wow Steve, thats barely 5 minutes from my house. I have friends who live on Piercing Hill.

It's been quite a while since I lived full time in Theydon - some 40 years in fact! I did visit some old haunts a few years back, but found that they'd changed quite a bit...

Re: Hi Rebecca!
40 years is a bit before my time, haha. I bet it had changed quite a lot in that time. Any plans to come back?

Sorry about the long delay in replying - I tend to get distracted at times. Unfortunately, work has this annoying habit of requiring my attention...JoeC wrote:40 years is a bit before my time, haha. I bet it had changed quite a lot in that time. Any plans to come back?

Anyway, I'm not currently planning on returning to UK, apart from the odd short holiday from time to time. Being used to life in the tropics, I don't think I could cope with the UK winter climate unless this global warming thing turns out to be somewhat more drastic than is currently expected.
How about you, Joe? Are you planning to spend the rest of your days in Epping?

It's ok, I have been rather distracted myself lately. Havn't really been on here much. Work has that annoying habit with me as well... plus college and other things!
I, for one, am hoping global warming is drastic... in this part of the world anyway. We could really use a hot summer. Although this week has been above average temperatures so I cant complain too much
As much as I loved this town, it's going down hill so rapidly I'm not sure I want to stay here forever. It will always be home though and I couldn't leave without coming back. Who knows where I may end up though... tomorrow's a mystery, as they say
You should drop back some time, just to see how things have changed if you are ever in the area.
Anyway, it's late now, and I have work in the morning So, off to bed for me...
Joe
